A Breath of Fresh Air

We’re almost at the end of the first week of community quarantine and I’m sure a lot of people out there are starting to get cabin fever. And you know what, that’s perfectly understandable! Our lives are so fast-paced that being forced to pause and take a step back can be a little unsettling. But I’m sure a lot of you have noticed that in spite the measures we’re all forced to take for everyone’s health and well-being, life still goes on. Restaurants, banks, pharmacies, and grocery stores still open to enable us to live our lives.

And have you guys seen the roads? I never thought I’d see the day modern-day Manila would not be gridlocked by any number of traffic jams. Our air has never been fresher! But I digress, my point is that there’s still a lot out there for us to appreciate despite all the uncertainty. Naturally, it is my hope that none of you reading this get sick and that we all make it through this. So put down your phones and unplug for just a bit to really be with your family. Spending time with your loved ones will do you more good than you may realize.

Just the other day as I was walking my dogs I saw a family out on their yard having a barbecue. They were out in the open air, gathered to break bread in a way they probably wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise. It was a great reminder of the things we all have we may be taking for granted and ought to be grateful for. I’m glad I got a glimpse into their little get-together because it showed me that people are finding ways to make this time fruitful.

May your relationships with your family and loved ones come out of this richer than before Netflix became the national pastime.
